About

Our Philosophy

Come to the loft and explore awakening awareness of our true nature. We  find the best way to do this is to be fully present in our bodies through the practices of karma yoga (the yoga of service ) meditation and somatic movement.

Learning from the Bhagavad Gita and other spiritual and wise texts from all traditions, we begin to understand how all beings everywhere are connected, similar to how St Francis saw all living beings as family .

Just like he found divinity in nature, we also believe as  we are part of nature it is our dharma (our duty, or that which we instinctively  know to be right) to protect the natural world . At the loft, we try and blend this wisdom and understanding with making a positive impact in the world through what we call sacred activism.

This means using our love, wisdom, and courage to take the time to delight in nature whilst safeguarding the wonders of the natural world. Making the world a better place today and tomorrow.

We’re inspired by many sources, from Khalil Gibran’s poetry to Rumi’s wisdom and the modern day words of John O’ Donohoe .

We look to spiritual figures like the Dalai Lama , Amma Mata Amritanandamayi, Satish Kumar  and Pope Francis who teach about love and compassion for all beings everywhere .

Environmental thinkers  like Wangari Maathai, Vandana Shiva , Joanna Macy,  Robin Wall Kimmerer, and John Muir  also teach us the importance of protecting the natural world and recognising our connection to something greater than ourselves.

In the words of Arundhati Roy  “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way on a quiet day I can hear her breathing”
